A refillable pod system gives you a disposable's size with the freedom to choose your own e-liquid. The range runs from simple draw-activated pens like the Vaporesso XROS series and Uwell Caliburn to adjustable-wattage pod mods such as the GeekVape Aegis Force, SMOK Nord 6 and Vaporesso Luxe XR Max 2. Most are made for salt nic; a few higher-wattage models also handle freebase.
How to choose a pod system
- Draw style. Mouth-to-lip pods (XROS, Caliburn, Sonder) give a tighter, cigarette-style draw; direct-to-lung pod mods (Nord, Argus, Aegis Force) give an open, airy one.
- Coil format. Some pods have a built-in coil and are replaced whole; others take swappable coils, which cost less over time.
- Wattage. Fixed-output pens are simplest; adjustable models from around 25 W to 80 W let you tune the draw.
- Battery and charging. Capacities run from roughly 800 to 3,000 mAh, almost all with USB-C.
Fill it with salt nic e-liquid, and keep spare pods and coils from accessories on hand.
Pod system questions
Is a pod system better than a disposable?
It costs more up front and needs refilling, but it lets you pick any e-liquid and strength, and pods cost less than a new device.
What is the difference between MTL and DTL?
Mouth-to-lip (MTL) draws into the mouth first, like a cigarette; direct-to-lung (DTL) draws straight in. Coils and airflow are built for one or the other.
Which e-liquid goes in a pod?
Salt nic for standard pods rated around 0.6 ohms and above; freebase only in pods rated below 1.0 ohm that are made for it.
